download (1)The Reputable Firm is a long waited reference book of CEO’s and communication professionals. Prof. Pekka Aula and Jouni Heinonen provide a prescription including both real examples from business world and academic insight on how company reputation must be managed but more importantly how to maintain that reputation.
A distinct example of this book is the enlightenment of the fact that how social media is running our company’s reputation. Digital Revolution of Communication section provides an excellent roadmap on this aspect for companies and brands who are struggling.
There is a specific section of the books that needs to be read underlined: Towards an Accountable Firm. Section presents findings on how reputation has evolved as a value (asset) explained from the examples of 2001 Enron and 2008 financial crises and provides light into how accountability on its own, has become a value. At this section authors draw attention to firms who don’t provide justified accountability towards their stakeholders are not up to becoming reputable firms.
Evidence Based Reputation Management section defines the maturity progress of firms who have intentions on this issue.
The last section of the book, The Reputable Firm, is the most striking section which includes teachings and best cases. Section including what drives reputation, 24*7 how you manage reputation risks, Reputable Firm Culture and Honor and Entering into Dialogical Reputation Management presents what fundamentals companies’ need to build a secure future.
Aula ve Heinonen have done a great job. Reputation management is an interpreted topic under different agendas yet they were able to provide a comprehensive and easy reading content on the issue that is backed up by great examples.
